đ§ New ep: 50 years of U2 in 6 moments
Plus: Your Zoo Station comments, and our field report from a tribute band show.
Hey Lemon Tarts,
U2 turns 50 this month, and we couldn't let that pass without a proper celebration — so this week's episode is our first love letter to five decades of the band, told through one pivotal moment per decade. Larry's message board note. Live Aid. Achtung Baby. The post-9/11 Super Bowl. Bono's bike accident. The Sphere. It's the whole story, six chapters.
Then things get personal. Jenny gives a full report from a night out at a U2 tribute band show (Wide Awake: The U2 Experience), before we dig into Side B: a deep-dive on "Zoo Station," the industrial, alarm-bell opener that told the world Achtung Baby wasn't messing around. We read your comments, swap ZooTV and Sphere memories, and pull out some show and tell from the vinyl shelf along the way.
And here's the part we've been sitting on: you're getting the exclusive US first listen to "Alison Stewart," a brand-new remix by the band December, being released for U2's 50th anniversary. It benefits Chernobyl Children International and officially drops September 18 — but you get to hear it first.
One more thing: next episode's random song from the cigar box is "The Playboy Mansion." Give it a relisten before we get there, and hit reply if you've got a take on it — we might read it on air.
Until next week, Jenny & Hillary
